The General Visit Visa is for those people who wish to come to the UK as tourists or to visit friends and family. All applicants under the General Visit Visa category must be at least 18 years old, plan to visit the UK for a maximum of 6 months and leave at the end of that period. The applicant of the General Visit Visa must also have enough money to support their self while in the UK.
Applicants with family members settled in the UK may be sponsored by them to visit with a General Visit Visa if the applicant their self does not have the required funds for maintenance. The family member must be willing and able to support and accommodate the applicant.
The applicant for the General Visit Visa must also not take any employment, produce goods, provide services or undertake a course of study during their time in the UK. This General Visit Visa sub-category is strictly for those visitors who wish to come to the UK on visit without any intention for business or any other activities.
Duration of a General Visit Visa
A General Visit Visa lasts for up to two years if granted for more than one entry to the UK. However the applicant can only stay in the UK for up to six months. They must be prepared to leave the UK after this time so it is advisable to plan the trip carefully.
